we invite colleagues from all over the region to participate in this symposium, which will be held on 30 September - 3 October 2004 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The program covers a wide range of interest, both on the academic and on the practical level. New and important developments in the field of infection control are highlighted in keynote lectures and update lectures. Disease burden of infection diseases is amplified by the emergence and the spread of anti microbial resistance amongst major human pathogens. Given the international nature of infection disease and anti microbial resistance, international collaboration as critical to control and prevent these problems.
